Shamrock Showcase is Kappa Delta Sorority's premiere event! Greek Life is founded on the basis that we contribute to our fellow neighbors, communities and those that are less fortunate than ourselves.

Kappa Delta Sorority is no different! Known for being the sorority with more philanthropy events and programs than any of the other 25 National Panhellenic sororities, Kappa Delta prides itself in all the hard work and dedication that its members do each year to give back to their surrounding communities!

The ladies of the Gamma Iota chapter are no different! The Shamrock Project, which was started by National Kappa Delta nearly 10 years ago is a program that encourages each KD chapter to design, promote and carry-out an activity of their choice to raise money for the prevention of child abuse.

For the past nine years Kappa Deltas at San Jose State have been planning and partaking in the largest Greek philanthropic event SJSU has seen in years! Known as Shamrock Showcase, the SJSU chapter of KD has made its Shamrock into a lip-sync and dance contest that every member of the Inter-Fraternity Council and Panhellenic Council participate in! It is the only philanthropy event at San Jose State that can brag such a wonderful turnout every year!

Every March, KD's Shamrock Showcase is the talk of the town! It has become a staple at SJSU and has nearly 500 Greeks, parents, SJSU students, and past KD alumnae are in attendance each year. It has raised over $65,000 in the past eight years.

The money is divided to benefit two very wonderful programs. Twenty percent of the proceeds go to benefit the national organization's support of Prevent Child Abuse America, a non-profit organization that works to educate about child abuse prevention and assists in finding missing and abused children. The other 80 percent goes to the local organization, Child Quest International, an organization that teaches parents and kids how to prevent abuse and how to avoid strangers.

Kappa Delta is very proud of Shamrock Showcase and all that it accomplished throughout the years. Each year it is a fun activity for all to enjoy! Everyone takes pride in the program that they present and has fun while benefiting these two wonderful causes!
