Philanthropy

Derby DaysKappa Delta Sorority is dedicated to giving back to the communities in which it is a part of. KDs at San Jose State are proud to say that they were awarded the All-Greek Community Service Award for the year of 2004.

The only Greek organization at SJSU that participates in EVERY philanthropy event they are invited to take part in, KDs work hard to help out all the other Greek organizations in their quest to raise money and support for several worthy causes.

During the year we participate in Kicks For Kids, Derby Days, Hunger is Frightful, Phi Ball, Mr. Fraternity, Breast Cancer Awareness and cancer walks.

In addition to the events that Kappa Delta takes part in, we also participate in several other organizations and raise money for many others.

For the past six years Kappa Delta has been directly connected to the Girls Scouts of America. We are proud of our affiliation with this wonderful organization that makes "Girls Grow Strong." KDs work closely with the Girl Scouts in the area, and have adopted two Brownie troops. Every year we host several events with these very cute little girls. Several of the events include decorating Christmas trees at Christmas in the Park, pumpkin carving at Halloween, egg decorating at Easter and Mommy and Me events for Mother's Day.

Other events that KD works with are the Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia; gives money each year to support three $20,000 Orthopedic Research awards granted each year; as well as the Studio 2B program it now supports with the older aged Girl Scouts.

Kappa Delta is dedicated to continually donate time and money to different organizations throughout the country. The national organization is constantly looking forward to new ventures and projects for its collegiate members to take part in.
